Our Story

Kale by Kasturi and Lebo is a South African slow fashion clothing and jewelry brand, launched in Nov 2021.

The company is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Kale is a confluence of African and Indian cultures, crafts, heritage
and art translated into fashion.

 

The founders Kasturi and Lebogang, are two women from the technology sector of the banking industry of South Africa, who identified the need to work with the local artisans of both the subcontinents and incorporate the unique and diverse textiles into their collections. We wanted the people to be aware of the various handcrafted fabrics, patterns techniques and to make it accessible to people. We make clothes which are good for the planet and people. We believe in a fair wage system for our artisans and want to contribute in building communities.

Our designs are mindfully crafted with sustainable fabrics and we want to bring these exclusive designs from our capsule collections to our clients. We hope that our clothes will be loved by you and can be passed on across generation as heirlooms.
